5 Ways to Deal with Holiday Stress

The holidays can often be a stressful time — the logistics of getting the family in one place, shopping, cooking, cleaning and entertaining just to name a few. Combine all that with the 2nd holiday season that is being shadowed by COVID-19 and you might be feeling additional stress worrying about you and your loved ones' health. Here are just a few tips for you to deal with holiday stress. How do you deal with stress during the holiday season?

1. Acknowledge your feelings- It's important we take the time to check in with ourselves this holiday season and recognize what we are feeling. Be sure to address the root of any negative emotions.
2. Boundaries- Set them. Keep them. if you find yourself stressed and overwhelmed by family, work, or other outside influences be sure you are keeping the boundaries you have set.
3. Everything in Moderation- The holidays are often a time of excess but to keep ourselves from a holiday hangover and a long list of new years resolutions remember enjoy all things in moderation.
4. Show yourself some love- The holidays are filled with so much outward focus such as gift giving, parties, and travel. It is important that you take time for yourself and do some of the things that you love.
5. Take one day at a time and value it- Life is a treasure even when we've lost sight of that. It's easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle, but this year reframe how you see this holiday season. Let each day come with a new fresh perspective. Let go of what you cannot control, remember the good times, and tell people you love them.
